Dr. Bill Ragle is not the same man he was a year ago. From a life of debilitating tremors and uncontrollable muscle spasms to a level of normalcy he hasn’t known in eight years, it’s not a stretch to say Bill is living a miracle.
Bill is finishing his last year as a professor of finance at Cedarville, a role he has fulfilled since 1995. Even when his Parkinson’s Disease began in 2013, he continued to work through the difficulties and pain. But last year, surgeons implanted electrodes deep in his brain to control his involuntary body movement. A battery pack placed in his chest constantly sends 1.6 volts to his brain.
Since the procedure, he is back to pre-2013 Bill: able to focus, teach, play guitar, and play tennis without out-of-nowhere shakes and muscle convulsions. And, he has had no negative side effects.
Now, Bill, and his wife, LuAnn, look forward to retirement as an opportunity of continued usefulness in the service of the Lord.
“Which of these things brings more glory to God?” Bill shared during an interview. “Healing me from a debilitating disease or having the world watch me cling to Him as I walk through it?
“What I’ve received is not a cure, but I’ve decided however God wants to use me in the future to glorify himself, count me in. I want to trust God to let him receive glory the way he wants to be glorified.”
