Dr. Warren Wiersbe’s legacy continues to inspire, even five years after his passing, with the release of his last work, “Becoming New: A 100 Day Journey of Transformation through God’s Word.”
The devotional book, published on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024 by David C. Cook, was dedicated at a ceremony at Cedarville University on Friday, Nov. 15. Dan Jacobsen, a grandson of Warren and Betty Wiersbe and the editor of the book, presented a copy of “Becoming New” for inclusion into the Warren and Betty Wiersbe Library and Reading Room at Cedarville.
The Wiersbe Library and Reading Room is in the Center for Biblical and Theological Studies at Cedarville University.
During a 30-minute ceremony that featured comments from Dr. Thomas White, president of Cedarville University and Dr. Trent Rogers, dean of the school of biblical and theological studies, Jacobsen provided detailed information about the editing process once his uncle found the manuscript of the book in a manilla folder in Wiersbe’s library.
It was Jacobsen’s intent to keep the heart and voice of his grandfather through his editing process—and the completion of the book.
“Becoming New” is vintage Warren Wiersbe,” said Jacobsen during the ceremony. “Being able to come alongside my grandfather on this book project brings special meaning to me, and it helped me understand my grandfather even more. It was a great honor for me.”
Before his passing, Wiersbe donated much of his library to Cedarville University in Ohio so the students could benefit from his lifelong study of scripture. Throughout Wiersbe’s ministry, which included multiple chapel sermons to Cedarville students, it was his focus to point readers to scripture. He
