As Cedarville University experiences unprecedented enrollment growth, with a record-breaking 6,384 undergraduate, graduate, and dual-enrolled students, the need to plan for future growth has never been greater.
Enter Dr. Bob Lutz, Cedarville’s recently hired vice president for strategic initiatives.
In this new role, Lutz aims to create strategic opportunities that will enhance the growth that’s taking place on campus—when other universities are struggling to maintain their enrollment numbers.
Lutz’s admiration for Cedarville began when he was searching for a college to attend. He wanted a university that aligned with his faith values.
“When I was searching for a college,” said Lutz. “God directed me to Cedarville because of its community, discipleship and academic excellence. Cedarville changed my life, and I am grateful for my college experiences.”
However, Lutz’s dedication to Cedarville’s mission did not end with graduation.
In 2004, Lutz was hired as a resident director at Cedarville University, where he later served as associate dean for student leadership development. By fostering relationships with Cedarville students and cultivating a joyful campus culture, Lutz discovered his passion for serving college students.
After nine years of service at Cedarville, Lutz was selected for a leadership position at Palm Beach Atlantic University.
During his decade at Palm Beach Atlantic, Lutz served as director of student activities, assistant dean of students and vice president for student development. Lutz brings abundant professional experience to his new role as Cedarville University’s vice president for strategic initiatives.
Now, Lutz’s senior-level position at Cedarville will see him focusing on expanding undergraduate programs into the online arena. His leadership is expected to play a critical role in creating opportunities for more students to obtain a degree from Cedarville, especially those who choose not to pursue a residential college experience.
Beginning in fall 2025, Cedarville will launch five online undergraduate programs in accounting, finance, information technology management (ITM), management and communication. These programs will provide a superior education at an affordable rate of just $375 per credit hour. Designed for flexibility, the online format accommodates students by allowing them to balance their academic pursuits with their personal and professional commitments. More online undergraduate programs are expected to be added in upcoming semesters.
Lutz’s second tenure at Cedarville will also focus on maximizing the impact of the university’s dual enrollment program and strengthening partnerships with Christian high schools across the country.“I believe God is a good shepherd who guides me in every journey,” said Lutz. “Each step has prepared me as a leader and encouraged me to continue to foster Cedarville’s culture and community while we achieve new and exciting strategic goals.”
