Dr. Michael Hogue, executive vice president and CEO of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), will address pharmacy students at Cedarville University on Tuesday, April 15. The lecture will take place at 11 a.m. in Health Science Center room 211. The event is open to the public and is free of charge.
A key figure during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hogue was the first pharmacist appointed by the CDC to the COVID-19 vaccine workgroup in 2020. He played a crucial role in shaping national vaccine strategies and helped create the Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery certification program for the APhA. From 2020 to 2023, he served as APhA’s liaison to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
Hogue brings over 25 years of experience in community pharmacy, having worked as both a pharmacy owner and a staff pharmacist. His focus on family and preventative medicine has shaped his leadership at APhA. He has also held academic positions at Samford University and Loma Linda University, where he helped launch a pharmacotherapy clinic. In 2023, he became the dean of pharmacy at Loma Linda University, teaching in both pharmacy and medicine.
This visit presents an opportunity for Hogue to engage with Cedarville students who are pursuing a doctor of pharmacy degree. He will speak about the future of the pharmacy profession. "Michael Hogue has the ability and passion to unify the profession of pharmacy in a positive direction. Cedarville University’s SOP graduates will contribute to this unification as leaders for decades to come" said Dr. Jeffery Bates, dean and professor of pharmacy practice.
