One Thousand Days Transformed - The Campaign for Cedarville

by Ella Smith, Student Public Relations Writer

College credits are now available for students at Christian high schools in Ohio without leaving campus through Ohio’s College Credit Plus (CCP) program and Cedarville’s partnership with schools.  The deadline to apply for students attending public or Christian schools is April 1.

Through CCP, students can take free college-level courses that are facilitated by their own high school. The credits the students earn from the classes can be applied to their college degree upon enrolling.

Dual enrollment helps students get started on college while still in high schoolMore than 80,000 Ohio students participated in CCP during the 2022–23 school year, according to the Ohio Department of Higher Education. As interest in dual enrollment grows, Cedarville is working with Christian schools to expand access to college courses.

“Cedarville noticed an opportunity to serve Christian high schools by offering its academic programs through CCP,” said Stephen Buettell, executive director of dual enrollment at Cedarville University. “As an evangelical Christian institution, supporting Christian secondary education provides a valuable service to the students and schools.”

This partnership not only provides courses through CCP but also allows students to take Cedarville’s classes facilitated by their own teachers.

“It’s an opportunity to take rigorous and biblically faithful courses while utilizing the support of their high school teachers,” said Buettell. “The goal is for students to have greater opportunity to take college classes that align with their worldview.”

The hope is that this partnership will benefit Ohio Christian schools by opening more opportunities both for students to pursue higher education and for the schools to have the bandwidth to offer more electives.
