Cedarville University’s orchestra and wind symphony will present “Melody & Myth - Fate & Fire” on March 22 at 7 p.m. in the James T. Jeremiah Chapel inside the Dixon Ministry Center. The concert will feature works by renowned Russian composers such as Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky and Shostakovich. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the event is open to the public.
The concert will follow the formal presentation of a traditional symphony experience, with etiquette and music to match. This event showcases sophisticated compositions each year and serves as the musical highpoint for the university’s music department.
“The first half of the concert is filled with beauty and sweeping melodies, while the second half is more intense, more in your face, with the power of Shostakovich and the dynamic energy of Stravinsky,” said Dr. Chet Jenkins, associate professor of music and the director of the wind symphony.
