Global Outreach (GO) teams from Cedarville University took spring break as an opportunity to serve in 19 communities across the U.S. and internationally, bringing together 335 students, faculty and staff in a wide range of mission-driven efforts.
With a focus on medical care, disaster relief, evangelism and learning about church planting church planting, these 19 teams raised funds to support their work in cities such as Boston, Denver, Chicago and Salt Lake City, as well as international locations like the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Peru, Honduras, Malawi and London.
“Spring break trips are some of our most popular because students have a dedicated week to serve,” said Keith Holcomb, assistant director of Global Outreach at Cedarville. “These trips provide hands-on ministry opportunities while reinforcing the importance of the local church in missions.”
Medical teams in the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Malawi set up mobile clinics where pharmacy and nursing student provided vital care. Other students contributed to disaster relief efforts in Maui following the 2023 wildfires, assisted with infrastructure projects and children’s homes in Mexico or engaged in orphan care, college evangelism and children’s ministry. A unique outreach trip to Salt Lake City focused on evangelism in a predominantly Mormon culture.
Cedarville’s GO trips foster long-term partnerships with local churches and ministry organizations. Students serving in medical ministries often work alongside local congregations to offer both physical and spiritual support. Partnerships with organizations like AMG (Advancing the Ministries of the Gospel) International, CPI (Caring Partners International) and MMI (Medical Ministry International) helped facilitate medical and children’s ministry efforts in Guatemala and Peru.
“These trips offer a snapshot of how students can live missionally after graduation, using their education in fields like nursing, engineering, social work, pharmacy and many more for gospel ministry,” Holcomb said.
Students are already wrapping up their fundraising efforts and making final trip payments for summer GO trips, which will expand outreach opportunities to even more locations.
