Financial Aid Terms and Conditions

These “Financial Aid Terms and Conditions” apply to all programs of study regardless of program completion length (i.e. 3 years, 4 years, etc.).

Freshmen/Transfer academic merit-based scholarships are “locked in” once a student begins their undergraduate study at Cedarville. These scholarships are awarded based on the eligibility criteria and deadlines for each.

  • Note: Once enrolled, a student will never be moved up to a higher scholarship level nor moved down to a lower scholarship level for any reason.

A student must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 undergraduate, degree-seeking credit hours per semester at Cedarville for undergraduate students) to receive institutional financial aid. Institutional aid is not prorated for part-time students.

Scholarships are awarded fall and spring terms only (this includes programs with a three-year completion option).

Outside scholarships that total $1500 or more will be automatically split between the fall and spring semesters unless otherwise specified by the scholarship provider. If an amount is less than the $1500 amount and the provider notes it is for a single semester only, the scholarship will be added as noted by the provider.

Renewable scholarships – assuming renewal criteria are met – are available for up to eight (8) semesters of attendance in an undergraduate program, or through the completion of the first professional year of the Pharm.D. program (whichever comes first). 

  • Students enrolled in a Master’s level program are ineligible to receive undergraduate institutional aid.  
  • Students enrolled in the Pharm.D. program are ineligible to receive undergraduate student aid in their P2 year, even if they accelerated the undergraduate portion of their program and have not received eight semesters of undergraduate aid.

Cedarville University seeks to be a careful steward of institutional resources and ensure that scholarship funds are maximized for all students. Therefore, if a student receives total scholarships and grants (institutional or outside) that exceed his/her direct University charges, Cedarville will reduce that student’s institutional gift-based aid so that the total gift-based aid does not exceed the student’s University charges. 

Some institutional aid may be partially funded by generous donors to the University. Students will be notified if a donor contributed to any portion of their awards, and an appropriate expression of appreciation will be required.  

Academic Scholarships Awarding Deadlines

Freshmen Scholarships – For those beginning their undergraduate study as a Freshman:

  • Academic scholarships for students starting in the Fall semester are awarded based on GPA scores received by July 31 and test scores (optional effective fall 2021) taken by July 31.
  • Academic scholarships for students starting in the Spring semester are awarded based on GPA and test scores (optional effective fall 2021) received in the Admissions Office by January 31.

Transfer Scholarships – For those beginning their undergraduate study as a Transfer:

  • Academic scholarships for students starting in the Fall semester are awarded based on combined college GPA for transcripts received in the Admissions Office by July 31.
  • Academic scholarships for students starting in the Spring semester are awarded based on combined college GPA for transcripts received in the Admissions Office by January 31.
