Cedarville University EMS
Cedarville University Emergency Medical Services (CU-EMS) is a volunteer ambulance service run entirely by students. CU-EMS responds to all medical and traumatic emergencies on campus as well as in the surrounding community, if needed.
CU-EMS is a Basic Life Support (BLS) provider. Along with the surrounding fire departments and EMS services, CU-EMS functions under the Greene County medical directors, and is dispatched through the Greene County 911. CU-EMS is also a member of the National Collegiate EMS Foundation.
CU-EMS has been providing emergency services to the University and community since 1965, and was the first collegiate emergency medical service in the nation.
Our Mission
Cedarville University Emergency Medical Services (CU-EMS) provides holistic pre-hospital care for the University family and surrounding community in times of need, offering opportunities for the well-rounded development of its members while upholding the Word of God and the Testimony of Jesus Christ to all publics of this organization.
Why Join CU-EMS?
Real-World Experience
If you’re considering a career in the medical field, CU-EMS provides real-world experience in patient care. You’ll gain responsibility, maturity, and critical thinking skills as you learn how to run an emergency call from first patient contact to the transfer of care at the hospital.
Ongoing Education
CU-EMS provides ongoing training to each of its members, like guest speakers, skills-based evaluations, and joint trainings with the local fire department. All members of CU-EMS are state-certified emergency medical technicians trained at the basic, intermediate, or paramedic level.
Strong Community
CU-EMS is a place of Christian fellowship and dynamic culture. It is built upon the common goals of service to the community, a devotion to represent Christ well, and a true desire to see each other succeed. As a part of CU-EMS, you’ll become a part of this close-knit community, with a body of members focused on strengthening both your skills and your walk with God.
Unique Ministry
CU-EMS treats medical and trauma-related issues but also provides holistic, compassionate care for patients. CU-EMS team members pray for patients at weekly meetings and are concerned with the physical and spiritual well-being of each patient. Members strive to show the love of Christ to both the University family and surrounding community.
