How To Navigate Your Student's Financial Aid Portal

Friday, March 28, 2025

Managing financial aid is an important part of your student’s college experience, and Cedarville University makes it easy with the Self-Service portal. Here’s a quick guide to help you and your student navigate the portal and ensure you stay on top of your financial aid tasks no matter where you are in the process!

  • Log In to Self-Service and Access Your Financial Aid: Start by logging into the Cedarville Self-Service portal at selfservice.cedarville.edu. Once logged in, select the Financial Aid option. This will bring you to your personalized financial aid homepage, which displays important information about your financial aid package and links to helpful resources.
  • Understand Your Checklist: On the financial aid homepage, you'll see a personalized checklist. Each item on this checklist needs to be completed to ensure your financial aid is processed on time.
  • Watch For Key Steps:
    • FAFSA Status: If your FAFSA has not been completed or sent to Cedarville, you’ll see a reminder here. Completing your FAFSA is the best way to maximize your financial aid.
    • Verification Process: If your FAFSA is selected for verification, you must complete all required documents before reviewing or accepting your financial aid offer.
    • Missing Documents: Any missing documents will show up on your checklist with a link to complete them.
    • Financial Aid Package: Check your award package to review scholarships, grants, and loans. If loans are offered, you can accept or deny them.
  • Monitor Your Bill: Your fall semester invoice will be available in mid-July, and the spring semester invoice will be available in mid-December. These invoices will show charges, payments, anticipated financial aid, and any actions still needed. To view these details, click on the Account Activity link within the finance section of the portal.
  • Stay on Top of Your Progress: Be diligent about checking your checklist and messages in the portal. If you have questions or need help, don’t hesitate to contact your student’s admissions counselor for guidance.

By keeping up with these steps and monitoring your portal, you’ll ensure your student’s financial aid is set and ready when their semester begins. Stay organized and don’t hesitate to ask for help if needed. We are eager to support you and your student as you navigate college finances!
