Biography

Professor Akins is principal flutist with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, flutist and piccoloist with The Ohio Valley Symphony, and an associate musician with Columbus Symphony Orchestra. She also performs as a recitalist, chamber musician, and freelance flutist.

Professor Akins has presented and performed at National Flute Association conventions and served the organization as secretary and general competitions coordinator. She was a founding member of the Central Ohio Flute Association, where she was president and chair of the Young Artist Flute Competition. She frequently serves the musical community by presenting clinics, masterclasses, and adjudicating. Professor Akins has been at Cedarville since 1994.
