Welcome to Cedarville University Summer School! This is a great time to take some classes on campus in a more relaxed atmosphere. Be sure to check the course schedule for the dates for your course.

  • Post office box assignments are available at the Post Office window in the Stevens Student Center during regular business hours.
  • School bills may be paid at the Cashier’s Office in the Stevens Student Center. New students should receive a student statement once you have paid your reservation deposit and contacted the Office of the Registrar to schedule your course(s).
  • Student ID cards may be obtained at the Campus Security Office located in the Human Resource and Security Center during regular business hours.
  • Textbooks may be purchased through the Campus Store site. You may find your list of textbooks by checking your course schedule and clicking on the textbook link.

Computer Information

CedarNet/CedarInfo

When you visit Cedarville University’s student homepage, you are accessing Cedarville’s computer network, CedarNet. As you are probably aware, the Student Homepage is the hub of your online involvement. myCU is where you can view your personal information, such as your schedule, grades, transcript, financial account, and other useful pieces of information.

Login Name/Password

Access to myCU and your class requires a login. Your password is the password you set when you applied. If you don’t remember your login or password, please contact the help desk in information technology at 937-766-7905 and the attendant will guide you in resetting your password.

CU Learn (Canvas)

Online courses use a web-based delivery system called CU Learn (Canvas). Log in to CU Learn (Canvas) using your Cedarville username and password (Cedarville.instructure.com). When you're logged in to CU Learn (Canvas), complete the Getting Started in CU Learn (Canvas): Orientation for Students course (available about two weeks before your course start date) listed in the My Courses section. Official and current course syllabi will be available in CU Learn (Canvas) on the course start date. Your professor can answer specific questions about a course or provide navigation instructions for the course.

You can expect to receive a welcome email from your professor close to the beginning of class. Please watch your Cedarville Google account for this email. It will likely contain important information for a successful start to your course.

Prepare your technology.

Information technology (IT) provides basic requirements for student computers, whether a student is on-campus or online.

Student Email Account

Email is one of the most crucial forms of communication at Cedarville University, especially for your professors. Beginning one week prior to the start of class, you should begin checking your Cedarville email account DAILY, and check it every day until class ends (cedarville.edu/google). To access your email account, use the same login and password that you use for myCU. All official email correspondence from the University will be sent to this account. Your professor and class peers will also expect you to check your email frequently.

Syllabus

It is your responsibility to read through the syllabus for the class. The syllabus is the professor’s outline of the course and will include project due dates and exam dates.

Textbooks

Students can find textbook information or may purchase textbooks through the Campus Store. On the Campus Store site, click on the "order textbook" icon or the word "textbooks" at the top of the screen. Then select the "View your course schedule and textbook requirements" link. You will need to log in with your username and password to see your schedule. Select the textbook link next to each course to view your textbook information.

Library

Review the Off Campus Library Services (PDF document) and access videos and tutorials provided by the Centennial Library staff. Students can find their 14-digit library ID number through myCU in the Academic (Student) Transactions area.

All Cedarville students visiting Cedarville's Centennial Library on campus or OhioLink member libraries must present their Cedarville student ID card to check out resources from the library. Students who access only online resources from Centennial Library or the OhioLink system only need their library ID number, which can be found in myCU.

CedarNet/myCU

When you visit Cedarville University’s student homepage, you are accessing Cedarville’s computer network, CedarNet. From the student homepage, you can log into myCU where you can view your schedule, post office box information, grades, transcript, financial account and hundreds of other useful pieces of information.

Computing 

Computer lab hours and location are listed on information technology's Computer Labs page. Black and white laser printers are available in computer labs and the library. Each registered student is provided with a print quota.

The University has the technical ability and legal authority to monitor access to on-campus and off-campus websites. The University may conduct reviews of network activity at its discretion. Although Internet access is filtered, students should always exercise discretion when going online. Before using campus computers and other network resources, please read the Acceptable Use Policy for CedarNet. Use of Cedarville University computer or network resources implies agreement to these policies.

Mobile devices
Go to the Information Technology Help Pages for information on connecting to CU-Secure. If you need additional assistance, you can schedule an appointment with a TechStop computer technician by submitting an online request. Answers to common computer connection questions can be found by going to the TechStop website.

Class Dress

Summer Term class dress for men includes dress shirts, sport shirts, sweatshirts or T-shirts and pants or jeans (no shorts). Class dress for women includes dresses, blouses, sweatshirts, or T-shirts and skirts, slacks, capris, or jeans (no shorts). Class dress for all students includes appropriate footwear.

Disability Services

The Academic Enrichment Center (The Cove) ensures that students with documented disabilities are provided equal access to educational programs, services, and activities. If you believe you need academic accommodations because of the impact of a disability, please complete an Application for Disability Services and submit the application to Marcy Van Meter, Disabilities Compliance Coordinator. Cedarville University requests a two week processing time for all applications to Disability Services. Health

Cedarville University Medical Services is closed during the summer months. UMS has collated an online listing of local health providers. Students should bring their insurance cards with them.

Housing

Each air-conditioned room houses two students and is furnished with two beds, two desks and chairs, and a dresser. Student Life's on campus housing page has more detailed information about the residence halls. New students staying in the dorm need to contact Student Life to arrange a move-in time (937-766-7872).

Laundry

Each residence hall has a laundry room. These are not coin-operated machines; the cost of using the machines is included in the room and board fee.

Please make your check out to Cedarville University and write your student ID number on the face of your check. Payments may be made online through the Student Finance system using an e-check or credit/debit card. Note that payment using a debit or credit card will incur a 2.5% transaction fee.

Plan to bring $50–$100 in spending money for special activities. The cost of textbooks depends on which classes you choose to take. Notepaper, pens, and miscellaneous school supplies are not included in the program fee.

Personal Items and Snacks

A small grocery store, Cedarville Village Market, is located just across the street from the University. In addition, Mom & Dad’s Dairy Bar, Dollar General, a local pizza shop, and some coffee houses are available in town.

Phones

Students are encouraged to bring a cell phone and charger. Land lines are not available during Summer School. 

Recreation

The Fitness Center is available to all summer school students; you must have your student ID card to enter. For more information about the university recreational facilities and Recreation Center hours, please visit the recreation center website.

Security

Campus security staff are on duty 24 hours a day and can be reached at 937-239-6491 or 999 from a campus phone. Campus Security is located in the Service Center.

Student ID Number and ID Card

Although your name is certainly valued and can be used to access many information files, your ID number is your permanent identifier at Cedarville University. Your ID number will always be the key to your Cedarville information. Your student ID number is at the top of this page.

As soon as you can, you will need to stop at Campus Security to obtain your student ID card. The ID card will be used to get into the cafeteria, borrow books from the library, and gain access to the fitness center equipment.

Textbooks

Most books can be purchased from any textbook source; however, some must be purchased through the Campus Store. Check your syllabus for this information.

Vehicle Registration/Parking Permit

If you brought a car to campus or are commuting, you’ll need to register your car and request a parking permit. You may do this at Campus Security or online through myCU.

    2. After logging in to CU Learn (Canvas), complete or review the Getting Started in CU Learn (Canvas): Orientation for Students course.
  • The day your course begins:
    1. Access your Google Mail account and read the welcome email from your course professor.
    2. Access CU Learn (Canvas) and select your course from the course list.
    3. After selecting your course, access the course website and review the following: course syllabus (near the top of the page) and assignments (on the assignment tab in the syllabus).
    4. Complete any assigned introductory activities.
